Westminster Presbyterian Church
Contagion Policy

  • Purpose:
  • Our purpose is to protect the health of all our children attending our church as well as our volunteers and staff.
  • Policy:
  • Our goal is to create a positive loving and learning environment for all of our children.  If a child is not feeling well, we request that the parent or caregiver please be considerate of the child and other children by helping us keep all classrooms and nurseries as germ free as possible.  With very few deviations, the symptoms which should disallow entry into any of these rooms are as follows: a rash other than diaper rash, vomiting, uncontrollable coughing, and/or diarrhea.  Children with runny noses are only admitted to the nursery if the mucous is clear and known to be related to allergy.  If a child has had a fever (greater than 98.6) the child must wait 24 hours after fever is gone before returning to classroom or nursery.  Children who are on antibiotic therapy may not return to class for 48 hours after the first dose of antibiotics.   It is our desire to provide and maintain a healthy environment for all our children. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
  • Procedure:
  • If a child exhibits signs or symptoms of illness, the teacher or staff will notify the parent to come and pick up the child.  The teacher and or staff should clean the room/surfaces, etc. immediately to assist with minimizing possible further contamination.  Teachers, staff, and volunteers should also follow the contagion policy and contact a substitute to cover them during their scheduled time should an illness occur.
General Statement:  Westminster Presbyterian wishes to provide a safe and healthy environment for all children as well as a pleasant experience for the parents, therefore, we will strive to minimize the spread of infections.
